Phase I of our project, which began in August 2001, is now complete. Phase I included the following scope of work:
• New roof over entire facility
• New exterior windows
• New exterior tuckpointing and masonry cleaning
• New heating, ventilating, and air conditioning system in all areas except the gymnasium
• New ceilings throughout much of the first floor
• New electrical service
• New lighting in many areas on the first floor, and some places on the second floor.
Phase II of our project is virtually complete, and includes:
• Remodeling of the existing space behind the sanctuary into a Family Gathering Space.
• Relocation of the Chapel into the space previously occupied by the Library Lounge
• Plaster repair and painting in the Nave
• Plaster repair and painting in the stairwells near the sanctuary
• New carpet in the aisles of the Nave
• New floor tile at the altar and choir loft
• New first floor bathrooms near the east parking lot entrance
• Minor repairs of miscellaneous items throughout the facility
• Addition of a passenger elevator with service from the east parking lot entrance to the Family Gathering Space.
We had some problems with the elevator contractor getting underway on schedule, so the installation of the elevator has been delayed. We anticipate full operation of the new elevator approximately October 15, 2008. Members of the Construction Committee who are overseeing the project include Bill Foss, Jack Kislia, Steve Shulta, Jerry Wells, and John Westphal.
