Journey of Faith
Journey of Faith is the name of our Sunday School Program for ages 3 through 6th Grade. All are welcome!
First Lutheran Church uses Rotational Sunday school, implementing various "workshops" to meet different learning styles within the church. We use six different learning environments in each unit including art, discovery (science), story, physical games, movies and cooking/eating.
Each six weeks, students (grades K-5) study one Bible story in six different ways. Over the course of a unit, the child learns the lesson in his or her preferred manner. Accordingly, children learn and remember Bible stories better. Adult volunteers are happier also: they have choices. They may serve as a workshop leader for a unit (6 weeks) or may shepherd a grade for a year. Rotation Sunday school also allows for flexibility. Parents, grandparents, youth, and others get involved because each unit is focused and allows for Sundays off. Please look at the bulletin board on the top of the 2nd floor hallway and sign up for a six week rotation. We need all your help and would like to have you involved in your children’s children education
Rotation Sunday school was inspired by Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligences Theory, in which he states that humans use eight different styles of learning. Each of us prefers one of these, though we use all of them in some form.
